Cherry Valley Addition
Cherry Valley, CA, 2006
The clients requested a Garage addition and facelift for their new 3,000 sq. ft. manufactured home.
The existing residence was a simple rectangular shape with the longer facades facing east and west. A large new corrugated metal overhang was designed at the west entry for protection from the harsh summer sunlight, while allowing for ample exposure in the winter months.
The Garage/Office addition was placed 10 feet from the existing home with a small fountain on axis to aid in creating a breeze to the rear yard. The additions shed roof and metal stair echoes the surrounding agricultural surroundings.
The entire house was resurfaced with stucco and cementitious siding for fire protection, as well economy and maintenance. Concrete block privacy walls and synthetic decking material were used for the new entry deck. Energy efficient windows and doors were specified in an effort to reduce energy consumption.
The interiors gained a new window seat and fireplace for family gatherings. A formal entry was created in an effort to articulate the large Family Room.
