Hartnell Lister Moore Attorneys

Redlands, CA, 2009

The existing building for this successful law practice had become dated and required a new aesthetic and stronger street presence to reflect the new client demographic.

Our solution was not to rebuild, but to reinterpret. The buildings simple form provided an excellent canvas for the exploration of new sustainable materials. The existing wood cladding was replaced with a combination of reclaimed cedar and portland cement stucco. Aluminum storefront was employed to help establish a new modern look while bringing in more natural daylight into the Lobby. New screen walls were used to conceal the existing utilities and a slightly higher parapet was employed to give this horizontal building the illusion of height. The majority of the materials were added to the existing structure avoiding the expense new walls and structural footings.

New colors, lighting, landscaping and graphics were used to help advertise this “new” practice in an existing building.
