Helen Heineman Ecumenical and Cultural Center

Framingham, Massachusetts, 1998

The Church was originally constructed in 1871 as St. Johns Parish Church and closed in 1985 due to extensive repairs.

The 1998 renovation included the replacement of the roof, interior walls and floors. Extensive repointing was required for the exterior masonry, and the foundation was under-pinned to allow for a new Computer Center in the basement. The stained glass windows were restored and new frames allowed protection from the climate changes and the modern cooling systems.

The restored building now provides the College with a unique area for ecumenical activities and cultural events. Since the opening, the Cultural Center has been the location of the President’s annual Christmas reading.
